‘Bu’ is an attempt to bring together two opposite worlds into one product by combining parametric software and laser cutting technology with traditional marble carving techniques.

A tilted Pietra Brown marble ‘bowl’  acts as a container of light, housing the central light bulb. An  acrylic disc provides the top cover, acting as a diffusor and refractor of light. The varying and densely populated angles resulting from the parametric pattern laser cut into the acrylic, allow the bowl to be read as ’empty’ or ‘full’, depending on the viewing angle and intensity of light.
